My Son, My King

My Son, My King

My Son, My King is a coming-of-age drama set in Melbourne's west, that follows Negus, a young Ethiopian-Australian boy navigating adolescence while caught between the expectations of his community and the stereotypes imposed on him by society. As he searches for identity, belonging and what it truly means to become a man, one reckless decision forces him to confront the pressures shaping his future. Rooted in the Ethiopian diaspora and inspired by the lived experiences of African Australian youth, My Son, My King explores family, masculinity and resilience through a perspective rarely seen in Australian cinema.
